A recent event caused me to stop and reflect on the various habits I developed throughout my life that dramatically changed my financial fortune.

After graduating the University of Notre Dame with a degree in business administration, I decided to earn my MBA at the University of Connecticut. After that, I earned a PhD in Marketing from Georgia State University. As a university professor, I continued reading and researching business-related topics.
After teaching college for 8 ½ years, I started my full-time professional speaking and training business and learned as much as possible about human behavior, psychology and sales. It soon paid off. In 1979 my first book was published – Non-Manipulative Selling.
I never stopped learning.
I continued reading and researching. I constantly called my colleagues, mentors and role models to ask them what they were doing to make them successful. I constantly created more products. Most important, I started learning ways to protect—and grow—financial wealth.
I studied real estate, investing and how the stock market functioned. I read up on emerging technologies and instructed my colleagues to immediately introduce me to people with innovative business ideas. I became immersed in learning throughout each day, seven days per week.
Although I earned considerable amounts of income from public speaking, training and product sales, I earned even more from becoming a savvy real estate investor and Internet business entrepreneur.
